Marriage in Islam

Islam preaches peace and harmony within marriages.

The purpose of marriage is where two people can find peace and tranquility within each other.

"And among His signs is this: that He has created for you mates from among yourself so that you may dwell in tranquility with them.

He has put love and mercy between your hearts.

Verily, in that are signs for those who reflect."

(Qur'an 30:21)

"Graciousness is closer to righteousness.

And do not forget kindness among yourselves.

Surely Allah (SWT) is

All-Seeing of what you do."

(Qur'an 2:237)

Treating one another with respect and kindness is key to a successful marriage.

"O People it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah's trust and with His permission.

Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers,

Quoted from The Last Sermon of Prophet

Muhammad

(PBUH)

And it is not a right for men to abuse, hurt, or control."

"And live with them in kindness."

(Qur'an 4:19)

Living with one's spouse in kindness means treating them with gentleness, patience, and understanding. It means valuing their feelings, opinions, and needs. It means making an effort to create a harmonious and loving environment in the household.
